Preparation & storage
Storage
Do not store melons in the fridge. The cold interferes with the ripening process.
Keep melon pieces and segments in the fridge, but wrap them in aluminium foil or plastic film. They will then keep for a maximum of 3 days.
Bear in mind that melons give off a strong, sweet odour. Dairy products can easily absorb this.
In the freezer, melons will keep for up to 12 months at a minimum of -18°C.
How do I know if the melon is no longer good? The melon is discoloured or mouldy. You can quickly recognise spoilage by looking, smelling or tasting.
Preparation
Wash the melon before use. Halve the melon and cut into slices.
Remove the seeds and skin. If necessary, cut the slices into pieces.
You can also use a special melon spoon to cut out small balls.
