Preparation & storage
Storage
Preferably store saskatoon berries spread out on a plate in the fridge, they will keep for a few days. Make sure they do not get damp. If necessary, lay the berries on kitchen paper to absorb moisture.
You can also freeze them: place the saskatoon berries side by side on a flat plate and let them freeze. Then wrap them in a plastic container or freezer bag and put them back in the freezer. In the freezer (at - 18°C), saskatoon berries can be kept for a few months.
How do I know if the berries are no longer good? Saskatoon berries are mouldy or limp. Decay can be recognised by looking, smelling or tasting.
