


Black trumpet (Horn of plenty)



The black trumpet consists of mildly fragrant flesh. The black trumpet has a slightly peppery flavour. This wild mushroom most closely resembles a 'chanterelle in mourning'. The Horn of Mourning is dark grey to deep black in colour. The mushroom has a funnel-shaped cap with frayed, slightly curled edges.

Storage
Store black trumpet in the fridge at a temperature of between 4° and 7°C. Use the black trumpet as fresh as possible. Prepare on the day of purchase.

Cut a piece from the bottom of the stalk, then slice or quarter.

Clean dry with a kitchen paper or mushroom brush. Do not wash, or they will fill up with water, losing flavour.
