Curubas

Curubas are also known as banana passion fruits. They are oval fruits about 8 to 12 cm long. The fruits are green or yellow in colour. The aromatic salmon-coloured pulp of the fruit is fresh-sweet and full of flavour. The fruit tastes fine right out of the hand but, is also sieved for juice.

Preparation & storage
Storage
It is best to store curubas on the fruit bowl, where they will keep for about a week.
How do I know if the curuba is no longer good? The curuba is discoloured or mouldy. You can quickly recognise this decay by looking or smelling it.
Preparing
Cut the fruit in half and spoon it out. You can eat the fruit out of hand, but you can also process it further in, for example, salads.
