Doyenné du Comice pear

Doyenné du Comice is a large hand pear with a short irregular shape. It is naturally green with reddish-brown hues, rust-coloured spots and dots. The flesh is bright white in colour, extremely juicy and deliciously soft. The pear tastes freshly sweet and has a blissful aroma.

Preparation & storage
Storage
Unripe pears can ripen just fine on a fruit shelf at room temperature. Do you like a firm pear? Then store them in the fridge.
Ripe pears can also be kept in the fridge. They will keep for a few days there.
How do I know if the pear is no longer good? The pear has gone soft or mouldy. You can quickly recognise decay by looking, smelling or tasting.
Preparation
Wash the pear. Cut the pear in half and cut the halves in half again lengthwise. Then remove the core.
You can remove the skin, but sometimes it is nicer to leave it on, especially when preparing the pear.
Slices of pear with skin in a salad provide a crunchy bite. The green colour also makes for a colourful decoration on your plate.
