Laurel

Bay leaf is an herb that you probably know mainly in dried form. The oval-shaped green leaves give dishes a nice spicy flavour, especially if you stew or boil them for a long time. Bay leaves themselves are not edible. Dried leaves give a more intense flavour than fresh leaves. Bay leaf only gives your dishes flavour. It adds no other nutrients. Fresh bay leaves are best kept in the fridge.
Preparation & storage
Storage
Store dried bay leaf in a sealed jar in a dry place. Dried bay leaf can be kept for years.
You can keep fresh bay leaves in a plastic bag in the fridge for up to a week.
If you have leftover fresh leaves, dry them on a baking tray over the heating. You can then keep them for longer.
