

Lilac tayer


Tayers are root tubers that can weigh about 2 kilos. They have a dark brown, hard exterior and white or lilac flesh. In Surinamese cuisine, they are used in the popular dish pom. Like potatoes, the tubers are rich in starch, but contain relatively little protein and vitamins.

Preparing
Wash the tayer, peel it and cut it into pieces. You can also grate tayer.
