Pipe cassia

Pipecassias are the fruits of the Indian goldenrain. They are also called drumsticks or old man's liquorice. They are rod-shaped, brown-black pods. They contain a row of neatly stacked, flat seeds. The seeds are surrounded by sticky, brown flesh. The sweet pulp is mainly used for its medicinal properties. The pulp has a mild laxative effect.
