The stalked lacquer mushroom (also known as reishi) has a shiny, yellow-brown cap and is native to Asia. It tastes too bitter to use in cooking, but is often further processed in products. It is not poisonous. On the contrary, the mushroom is very healthy. Nevertheless, it is only used for medicinal reasons.
