Preparation & storage
Storage
You store the beet sprouts in the packaging. Throw away the packaging immediately when you take out the sprouts.
Beet sprouts can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
Preparation
Beet sprouts are also edible raw. There is a risk that raw beet sprouts (like bean sprouts) may be contaminated with various bacteria such as salmonella or E. coli. Small children, the elderly and people with diminishing immunity should be especially wary of this.
This way, you reduce the risk:
- It is important to wash beet sprouts well under running water before use.
- Store the sprouts in the fridge (4°C).
- Heat the sprouts: briefly immerse in boiling water (5 seconds) or stir-fry them with your meal.
You can add beetroot sprouts to a hot dish. Add it at the end of the preparation and let it warm up well.
