The beautiful red sprouts are a sprout vegetable, just like bean sprouts and alfalfa. This sprout vegetable has a delicious light cabbage flavour and high nutritional value. Because of their bright purple colour, these sprouts are very decorative.

In the vegetable compartment of the fridge, red cabbage sprouts will keep for up to 6 days. You store the red cabbage sprouts in the packaging. Throw away the packaging immediately when you take out the sprouts.
Prepare
You can add red cabbage sprouts to a hot dish. Add it at the end of the preparation and let it warm up well.

Cleaning red cabbage sprouts
Red cabbage sprouts are also edible raw. There is a risk of red cabbage sprouts (like bean sprouts) being contaminated with various bacteria such as salmonella or E. coli.
This is how you reduce the risk:
- It is important to wash red cabbage sprouts well under running water before use.
- Store the sprouts in the fridge (4°C).
- Heat the sprouts: briefly immerse them in boiling water (5 seconds) or stir-fry them with your meal.
Do not eat raw sprouts: Especially small children, the elderly and people with diminishing resistance should pay attention to this.
