The beautiful red sprouts are a sprout vegetable, just like bean sprouts and alfalfa. This sprout vegetable has a delicious light cabbage flavour and high nutritional value. Because of their bright purple colour, these sprouts are very decorative.

Preparation & storage

    Storage
In the vegetable compartment of the fridge, red cabbage sprouts will keep for up to 6 days. You store the red cabbage sprouts in the packaging. Throw away the packaging immediately when you take out the sprouts.

    Prepare
You can add red cabbage sprouts to a hot dish. Add it at the end of the preparation and let it warm up well.

    Storage times

    Refrigerator: 6 days

    Preparation times

Heat the sprouts: briefly immerse in boiling water (5 seconds) or stir-fry with the meal.

    Cleaning red cabbage sprouts

Red cabbage sprouts are also edible raw. There is a risk of red cabbage sprouts (like bean sprouts) being contaminated with various bacteria such as salmonella or E. coli.

This is how you reduce the risk:

    • It is important to wash red cabbage sprouts well under running water before use.
    • Store the sprouts in the fridge (4°C).
    • Heat the sprouts: briefly immerse them in boiling water (5 seconds) or stir-fry them with your meal.

Do not eat raw sprouts: Especially small children, the elderly and people with diminishing resistance should pay attention to this.
