


Breadfruit



The fruit is 20-35 cm long and green-brown in colour. On the skin are small blunt spines. The ripe flesh is flaky, juicy and soft. Breadfruit is an important staple food in the tropics. There are breadfruit with and without seeds. The seeds can be roasted, just like chestnuts.

Storage
Store this tropical fruit at room temperature. In the fridge, the ripening process stops. Breadfruit can be stored at room temperature for about 2 weeks.
Preparing
It is best to peel breadfruit thinly. Cut them in half and remove any seeds. Then cut the flesh into slices or cubes.
