Jackfruit (Nangka)

Jackfruit (also known as Nangka) is increasingly used as a meat substitute. Jackfruit is yellow-green, spiny and elongated. One fruit can weigh up to 40 kilos! Jackfruit tastes aromatic and sweet, like banana. Unripe fruit is eaten as a vegetable. The smell is strong, but less repulsive than its relative the breadfruit.
