Elderberries

Elderberries are super healthy and high in vitamins A, B6 and C. Elderberries have a distinct flavour, which is why the berries are especially suitable for further processing into juice or tea, for example. Elderberries naturally contain a slightly toxic substance, which is rendered harmless with cooking.

Preparing elderberries
Wash the berries, remove twigs and boil them before further processing. Raw elderberries naturally contain a toxic substance that becomes harmless with short cooking.
Strain the cooked berries so that the seeds are removed.
You can also wash the blossom and boil it briefly before use.
Beware of the juice of the berries, the dye stains skin and clothes.
Storage
Use elderberries as soon as possible after picking. You can keep them in the fridge for 1 or 2 days.
