


Garlic



Garlic is a real seasoning. Garlic is known for its pungent aroma. Garlic is related to onions. Garlic is rich in volatile flavour compounds. Raw garlic tastes pungent. By heating garlic, the flavour becomes more aromatic and sweeter. A garlic bulb can contain up to 20 cloves of garlic. Garlic bulbs are dried whole. Garlic is best stored in a cool place.

Storage
Store (dried) garlic in a cool place (12-15°C). In a pantry, kitchen cupboard or cellar.
In the freezer, garlic can be kept for up to 3 months at a minimum of -18°C. Store garlic in a well-sealed plastic bag or container.
Preparation
Peel garlic. Then chop (finely slice), crush or squeeze with a garlic press.
Remove the greenish-yellow heart in older garlic.
