


Jambolan



Jambolan is a very well-known fruit in Suriname. It is related to the clove. They are round or oval fruits. The skin is shiny. The fruit ripens through pink to dark purple/black. The fruit has white, juicy flesh. The flavour is sweet, but with a hint of acidity. After eating a jambolan, your tongue is purple for a short time.

Storage
In a cool place (12-15°C), you can keep jambolans for up to 5 days.
Do not keep them in the fridge: they are sensitive to low temperatures, which disrupts ripening. Ripe fruits can be kept in the fridge for a few days.
