Jostabes

The jostaberry is a deep blue-black berry. The jostaberry originated from a cross between a blackcurrant, a gooseberry and a worcester berry. Its flavour is similar to that of the blackcurrant, but it is slightly less sweet while having the freshness of gooseberries. The berry is larger than the blackcurrant and measures about 1-1.5 cm.

Preparation & storage
Storage
You can store Jostab berries, spread out on a plate in the fridge for 1 to 3 days. Make sure they do not get damp. You can place them on kitchen paper to absorb moisture.
You can also freeze them: place the jostaburs side by side on a flat plate and let them freeze. Then wrap them in a plastic container or freezer bag and put them back in the freezer. In the freezer (at - 18°C), the berries can be kept for a few months.
How do I know if jostaberry berries are no longer good? The berries are mouldy or limp. You can quickly recognise this decay by looking, smelling or tasting.
