The red banana is variety of the common banana. These bananas are slightly smaller and sweeter in flavour. The skin is green-red to red in colour. The flesh is cream to pale pink in colour.

A red banana is trickier to peel than the yellow banana. The best way to remove the peel is like this: cut off the ends of the fruit. Then cut open the skin lengthwise. Eat the banana out of hand or slice it and incorporate it into a salad or dish.
After peeling, a red banana discolours quickly. Want to avoid this? Eat the red banana quickly or sprinkle with some lemon juice.
