


Sharonfruit (khaki)



Sharon fruit looks like a square tomato. The name comes from the valley in Israel where these fruits are grown. Sharon is a brand name and persimmon the fruit species to which it belongs. So persimmon is as much a generic name as apple or pear. The flavour is very sweet and somewhat similar to apricots. Sharonfruit can be eaten on the spot, with or without peel.
