Cherimoya

The cherimoya is also known as Jamaica apple. It is a heart-shaped fruit with a green, sometimes light purple skin that has scales. The flesh is white and creamy with inedible (poisonous) seeds. The flavour is reminiscent of pineapple and strawberries with whipped cream. Delicious and healthy! The fruit is ripe when the skin starts to turn black, after which you cannot store cherimoya for long.

Preparation & storage
Cherimoya storage
This fruit should not be stored below 12°C as this stops the ripening process. Store just barely ripe fruits on the fruit shelf for 2-3 days. After that, it is important to eat them immediately as they spoil quickly when ripe.
Storage times
Fruit bowl: 2-3 days
Cleaning cherimoya
Cut the fruit in half lengthwise and remove the black seeds. This is very easy because they are loose. Then you can cut or scoop out the flesh. Eat only the flesh, the seeds and skin are poisonous and cannot be eaten.
Preparation times
Depends on the application.
