The cocktail avocado is much smaller than a regular avocado. But the flavour is big, intensely creamy and nutty. Cocktail avocados are finger-shaped, measuring about 6 centimetres long. Unlike the regular avocado, they have no stone and a thin, edible skin. Ideal for special snacks!

Preparation & storage

    Store
    Unripe avocado
    Do not store cocktail avocados in the fridge. This disrupts the ripening process. On the fruit bowl is a good place. You can store the avocado for 1-6 days, depending on how ripe it was already.

    Want to speed up ripening? Then put the avocado in a sealed plastic bag together with a pear, banana or apple. These fruits give off ethylene gas (formerly known as ethylene), which speeds up the ripening process.

    Decay
    How can I tell if an avocado is no longer good? The avocado is mouldy, very soft or discoloured. You can recognise decay by looking, smelling or even tasting.

    Cleaning cocktail avocados

    Cocktail avocados are a little trickier to peel than regular avocados. We'll give you a few quick tips to make it easy for you.

    Tips:

    • You can cut a ripe cocktail avocado lengthwise and scoop out the flesh.
    • You can squeeze the flesh out of the skin.
    • Or you can even eat the avocado with skin and all.

    Drizzle the flesh with a little lemon juice to prevent discolouration.
