Oakleaf lettuce

The leaves of oak leaf lettuce, as the name suggests, resemble the leaves of an oak tree. The colour is usually green with reddish-brown edges. But there are also varieties that are completely green. The lettuce is soft, tastes tender and slightly nutty. Oak leaf lettuce is included in many bags of mixed lettuce because of its attractive appearance.

Preparation & storage
Storage
Store this lettuce in the crisper section of the fridge. It will keep for 2 days.
Make sure the lettuce can breathe. Put your lettuce itself in a plastic bag. Do not put it away in a closed plastic bag. You can store the lettuce in an open plastic bag if necessary.
In a cool place (12-15°C), lettuce will keep for 1-2 days. In a warm place, lettuce quickly becomes limp. Never store lettuce next to fruit, as the gas ethylene (formerly known as ethylene) is released when fruit ripens. Ethylene causes brownish-red spots on the veins of lettuce, lettuce then spoils faster.
If (pre-cut) lettuce or in a mix with other lettuces is offered packed, check the best-before date. Store wrapped lettuce in original packaging in the refrigerator. This lettuce is packed under protective atmosphere*.
*Protective atmosphere: This means that there are the same gases in the packaging as in the air, only in different proportions. This keeps produce fresh for longer.
Preparation
Carefully loosen the leaves from the head. Wash and drain the leaves. Tear the leaves into pieces.
