Orange

The orange is the best-known citrus fruit. There are sweet and sweet-sour versions. There are several varieties, such as the common orange, the navel orange and the blood orange. A hand orange is juicy and can be eaten like this after peeling. A pressed orange has more fibrous flesh and lends itself better to pressing.

Preparation & storage
Storage
Store the orange outside the fridge. You can store oranges for 1-2 weeks.
Is the orange next to a banana on the fruit bowl? Then orange ripens faster.
How do I know if an orange is no longer good? The orange has dried out, has little flavour or is mouldy. You can recognise this decay by using your senses well: look, smell or even taste.
Prepare
Oranges are delicious just the way they are. So just peel and eat them.
You can also use the peel. Scrub the orange clean first. Grate only the orange peel. Do not grate the white part underneath as it is bitter.
The finely grated zest is a delicious flavouring in biscuits or cakes.
