Spinach is a dark green leafy vegetable with tender leaves and a full flavour. There are different types of spinach. Preparation & storage

    Storage
Fresh spinach is best eaten the day you buy it. Is that not convenient? Then you can keep spinach in the fridge for 2 days.

Spinach can also be frozen. Just before freezing, blanch for 2 minutes (heat briefly). Spinach can then be kept in a well-sealed plastic bag or container for up to 12 months, at a minimum of -18°C.

Do you have leftover cooked spinach? You can keep leftover spinach in the fridge for 2 days or in the freezer for 3 months in a sealed storage container.

Opened spinach from a jar (glass)? Then you can also store this spinach for 2 days in the fridge or 3 months in the freezer. Do transfer the spinach to a sealed storage container.

Spinach is a fragile vegetable. How can I tell if fresh spinach is no longer good? The spinach is limp, discoloured or gives off a sour smell. You can recognise this spoilage with your senses: look, smell well or taste.

How can I tell if spinach from a pot is bad? Spinach is mouldy or discoloured. You can recognise this spoilage by looking or smelling carefully.

    Preparation
Wash fresh spinach a few times to remove all the grains of sand. Drain briefly in a colander. Then boil with the water for a few minutes.

Spinach from the freezer or pot just needs to be heated briefly.
