Berries

There are many types of berries. In the summer months, most berries come from the Netherlands. The flavours vary from (fresh) sweet to sour and sometimes even spicy. On this page you will find information on the most common berries.

Preparation & storage
Storage
Preferably store berries in a paper bag in the fridge. You can also keep the berries spread out on a plate in the fridge. Make sure they do not get damp. If necessary, lay the berries on kitchen paper to absorb moisture.
Berries can be kept in the fridge for 1-3 days.
You can also freeze them: place the berries side by side on a flat plate and let them freeze. Then wrap them in a plastic container or freezer bag and put them back in the freezer. In the freezer (at - 18°C), the berries can be kept for a few months.
How do I know if the berries are no longer good? The berries are mouldy or limp. You can recognise decay by looking, smelling or tasting.
Preparation
Berries are delicate. So touch them as little as possible, only if necessary.
