Dill

Dill is a plant in the umbellifer family, which also includes fennel and chervil. Dill has fine, needle-like soft leaves. It is a herb with a very delicate, aniseed-like flavour. Dill is especially popular in soups and sauces. The dried seed is used for pickling cucumbers and gherkins. Vinegar can also be flavoured with it.
Preparation & storage
Storage
A bunch of dill can be kept in cling film or a well-sealed container or bag in the fridge for a few days. Dill should preferably be used fresh. Its flavour and fragrance are at their best then.
You can also store dill in the freezer. Store dill in a well-sealed bag or container; it will keep for up to 12 months at a minimum of -18°C.
Prepare
You can carefully rinse dill and pat it dry. Cut the stalks finely or leave them decoratively long.
Use dill raw or add it at the end of the preparation time of your dish. Dill is very sensitive to heat. If you cook it with it, much of its flavour is lost.
