Kanzi® apple

The Kanzi® was created from a cross between the Gala and the Braeburn. The Kanzi® apple is a mix of the juicy Gala apple and the sour-sweet Breaburn. This makes Kanzi® a sweet-sour apple with a crisp texture. Kanzi® means 'Hidden treasure' in Swahili. The Kanzi® can be recognised by its typical red blush.

Preparation & storage
Storage
They are best stored in a cool place or in the fridge. In the fridge, you can easily keep them for 2 weeks. The apple does not appreciate rough handling, which leaves brown spots.
Do the apples lie on the fruit bowl next to a banana? Then the apples ripen faster.
Preparation
An apple is an easy fruit. You can eat it out of your hand, but you can also peel it.
The flesh discolours quickly without peeling. You can prevent this with a little lemon juice or (cider) vinegar.
The apple, and especially the skin, contains pectin, a substance that helps jelly and jam gel.
Want to bake an apple with skin in the oven? Then slice the skin all around to prevent cracking of the skin.
