Nectarine

The skin of a nectarine is beautifully smooth and the fruit is less fragile than a peach. Because of these properties, the nectarine is gaining in popularity from the hairy peach. Nectarines can be eaten like an apple, either with or without the skin. Ripe nectarines taste as sweet as a peach.

Preparation & storage
Storage
Nectarines will keep for up to 3 days in a cool place. You can keep nectarines in the fridge for about 7 days, but they will lose some flavour and fragrance.
How can I tell if a nectarine is no longer good? The nectarine has bruises, is mouldy or discoloured. You can quickly recognise decay by looking or feeling carefully.
Preparation
Nectarines can be eaten with their skin on, just like an apple. You can halve the fruit by cutting it in half all around and twisting the halves off the stone with your whole hand.
