The Fred© pear is a green/yellow pear. The Fred© has a sweet, slightly sour flavour and is perfect for on-the-go. The pear is firm, has an almost crunchy bite and is very juicy.

Preparation & storage

    Storage
Unripe Fred® pears can ripen just fine on a fruit tray at room temperature. They will then become progressively softer and more tender.

Do you like a firm pear? Then store them in the fridge.
Ripe pears can also be kept in the fridge. They will keep for a few days there.

How do I know if the pear is no longer good?
The pear has gone soft or mouldy. You can quickly recognise decay by looking, smelling or tasting.

    Preparation
Wash the Fred® pear well or peel it before use. You can also eat the pear with peel and all. Or halve the pear and cut the halves in half lengthwise. Then remove the core.

Good to know: peeled pears brown quickly! You can prevent this by sprinkling them with some lemon juice.

Slices of peeled pears in a salad provide a crunchy bite. The green colour also makes for a colourful decoration on your plate.
