Sweet Sensation Pear

Sweet Sensation is a Dutch pear variety characterised by a beautiful red blush and sweet taste. The pear has firm flesh and an extra thin skin and is therefore easy to eat on the go. Sweet Sensation pears are available from October to April from the Netherlands. Pears are packed with fibre, which is important for nutrient absorption and healthy digestion.

Preparation & storage
Storing Sweet sensation pears
Unripe pears can ripen just fine on a fruit tray at room temperature. Do you like a firm pear? Then keep them in the fridge.
Ripe Sweet Sensation pears can also be kept in the fridge. They will keep for a few days there.
How do I know if the pear is no longer good? The pear is mouldy. You can quickly recognise decay by looking, smelling or tasting.
Preparing Sweet sensation pears
Wash the pear. Halve the pear and cut the halves in half again lengthwise. Then remove the core.
You can remove the skin of the Sweet Sensation pear, but sometimes it is nicer to leave it on, especially if you are going to prepare the pear further. Moreover, you will throw away valuable fibres when peeling.
Slices of pear with peel in a salad provide a crunchy bite. The green colour also makes for a colourful decoration on your plate.
