Yellow kiwi

The yellow kiwi has a fig-like shape. The skin is smooth and has a light to dark brown colour. The flesh has a sunny, light golden yellow colour. The yellow flesh contains small, black, edible seeds. The yellow kiwi is deliciously juicy and sweet with a fresh touch. Kiwis also come in the well-known green variety.

Preparation & storage
Storage
The yellow kiwi, unlike the green kiwi, is practically ready to eat.
Want a riper yellow kiwi and therefore an even sweeter flavour? Then put the yellow kiwis together with pears, apples, oranges or bananas in a paper bag.
You can keep ripe yellow kiwis on the fruit bowl for 2 days. Yellow kiwis will keep for at least 1 week in the fridge.
How can I tell if a yellow kiwi is no longer good? The yellow kiwi then goes mouldy, has lost flavour or has dried out. You can recognise this decay by looking, smelling or even tasting.
Prepare
You can halve a yellow kiwi and peel it or peel and slice it. Yellow kiwis can be eaten with peel and all.
Take care when combining yellow kiwi and dairy products or gelatine in a dish. This is because fresh yellow kiwi contains a substance (enzyme) that breaks down proteins. Milk products then become watery and acquire a bitter aftertaste, and gelatine loses its binding power. Canned or blanched (briefly boiled) kiwi does not have this effect. The same goes for pineapple, mango and papaya!
